ARTIST / Artist
Tuna Özkaragöz was born in 1997 in Istanbul. She graduated from the Visual Communication Design and Cinema-Television departments at Istanbul Bilgi University. Her artistic journey began with illustration and comics, and over time, she transitioned to classical oil painting techniques. Her works are fueled by her personal experiences and a desire to explore the relationship between humans and nature. Her exhibitions have been showcased in art centers such as Istanbul, Ankara, Paris, and Dubai. The artist continues her work in her studio in Istanbul.
In her works, she reinterprets the human form with a figurative approach. The role of nature and animals occupies a central place; she questions human identity and existence through the connection with nature. By shifting the focus away from facial expressions, she emphasizes movement and gestures in her narrative. With exaggerated proportions, such as large hands and feet, she transforms the inner world of figures into a visual metaphor.
Animal figures in her works act as a mirror to the human subconscious. Animals reflect the emotions that humans hide with bold openness. The animal figures in her works question both humanity’s impact on nature and its inner harmony with it. The figures and theatrical atmospheres in nature-themed works offer a powerful expression of storytelling.
In her use of color, she tends towards contrasts and vibrant tones, creating a narrative that is sometimes melancholic, sometimes filled with hope, using vivid colors. The artist’s works, which aim to blur the boundaries between nature and humans, offer not only a visual experience but also an emotional and philosophical one.
