DAZE (American, born 1962), also known as Chris Ellis, is a graffiti artist. DAZE started writing graffiti on the New York City subway in the mid-1970s while a student at the High School of Art & Design. In 1981 her work was featured in the Mudd Club group exhibition Beyond Words, which also included works by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. The following year, she had a solo show at Fashion Moda in the Bronx, NY. He continued to exhibit at venues such as the Sydney Janis Gallery (1983) in New York, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen (1984), the Groninger Museum in Groningen, Netherlands (1992) and the Aldrich Museum Ridgefield, CT (1995). His work has been acquired by the Brooklyn Museum, the Groninger Museum, the Ludwig Museum in Aachen, Germany, the New York City Museum, and MoMA, NY.
Working with PPOW Gallery in the US, Daze is currently having a solo exhibition in New York between January 7 – February 12, 2022.
