ARTIST / Artist
Samuel Jablon (b 1986, Binghamton, NY) is a New York based painter and poet. Having an artist mother, he was more oriented towards poetry at an early age. He subsequently received his BA on poetry from Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado (2009) and his MFA from Brooklyn College/CUNY (2013).
In Jablon’s own poetry, everything has always been more visual than literary. This practice made way for his current series of paintings which combine words and paint. In these works, letters become the architecture upon which the rest is built. For Jablon, it is important to see how the words and the paint interact with each other. More often than not, the colors used by the artist will change how the viewer reacts to a painting.
Jablon has worked with Carl Kostyal Gallery and The Pit L.A. He has performed and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, The Queens Museum, Hauser & Wirth, Storefront for Art and Architecture, The Kitchen, Artists Space, Blum & Poe, the Landing, and Ballon Rouge Collective.
