ARTIST / Consultancy
Born in 1964 in Germany, Nitsche was educated at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden. Known for geometric abstractions, the contemporary painter was influenced in his artistic development by the fall of the Berlin Wall and the city’s accelerated transformation in the 1990s.
Developing a complex visual language for himself, Nitsche creates intersecting geometric forms with the layers of paint and lines he overlaps. Geometric shapes become abstract formations that can remind us of construction plans, technical models, or computer programs.
In his abstract compositions, Nitsche intensified the inspiration he got from the consumer society culture with his own pictorial experience. His works are in the collections of the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Ludwig Museum in Cologne. The artist continues to live and work in Berlin.
