JAMES ROSENQUIST

James Roenquist (b. 1933- d.2017)

Born in 1933, Roenquist completed his education at the University of Minnesota. Considered one of the pioneers of Pop Art, the artist saw modern culture as a source of inspiration for his style in his works. He presented motifs such as Coca-Cola bottles, built-in kitchens, packaged foods, in a layered and abstracted form on his large canvas and prints. The works of the artist, who interprets his subjects by embodying them, are in the collections of the Arts Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Modern Art, The National Gallery of Art and Tate Gallery. He died in New York in 2017.
