Devrim, Nejad Melih (b.1923- d.1995)
The artist, born in 1923, is the child of painter Fahrelnisa Zeid and writer İzzet Melih Devrim. He entered the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in 1942. During his academic years, he became interested in Arabic letters and abstract Islamic art. He opened his first exhibition in Paris in 1947 and settled in Paris in 1946. Over time, the understanding of art has moved towards Abstract Expressionism and has reached a unique and original style with the colorism it includes. In his paintings, the composition of stains consisting of colors, thick paint and short brush strokes stands out. His works are in various museums and important collections in Turkey and abroad. He died in Poland in 1995.
