Born in 1962 in Alsfeld, Germany, Robert Janitz lives and works between Mexico City and New York.
Robert Janitz’s recent solo exhibitions include Casa Gilardi (2021), König Gallery, Berlin (2020), Kunstmuseum Winterthur, Switzerland in 2019, CANADA, New York (2018), Anton Kern Gallery (2018) in Mexico ), Meyer Rieggern Gallery (2017), Team Gallery, New York (2017 and 2015), Shoot the Lobster (2012) and Clearing, Brussels (2012 and 2011). His upcoming exhibitions include the MAZ Museum, Guadalajara, and the Museo Anahuacalli in Mexico City in 2022. In 2009, he worked as Professor at École Supérieure Des Beaux-Arts in Cherbourg, France, and from 2003 he was Visiting Professor of Visual Arts at the University of Paris 8, Paris, France.
Janitz, who held his first solo exhibition in Turkey, Labyrinth, at Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery in November 2021, subsequently held a solo exhibition at Canada NY Gallery in December 2021. In March 2022, Janitz will have another solo show in König Gallery Seoul with works that he created by reinforcing his new visual vocabulary that he started to create in Turkey.
The artist’s first monographic publication MADE IN NEW YORK was published in 2020 by Distanz Verlag, Berlin.
