Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery is proud to present the exhibition titled Freedom of the Form, between 17 January – 13 February 2022. The exhibition brings together the works by international contemporary artists who are benchmarks in their own media. The selection of works include paintings, sculptures and video works by artists Peter Halley, Robert Janitz, Rosy Keyser, Tony Cragg and Sara Ludy, whose works have been included in many important public and private institutions.
The exhibition spread across all three floors of Villa Ipranosyan will be curated by our founder Sevil Dolmacı. Freedom of The Form will offer art lovers the opportunity to see for the first time the abstract paintings of American artist Rosy Keyser and video works by Sara Ludy, who is highly talked about with her work “Astral Garden” produced for Maison Valentino.
The American artist Peter Halley (1953 -), who is one of the most important representatives of the Neo Geo art movement which emerged in New York in the 1970s, will be the focus of the exhibition, His works dated to 2000s, come forward with their Day Glo colors and computer-powered cells On the same floor, Peter Halley will be accompanied by the Turner Prize-winning British sculptor, Tony Cragg (1949-), one in wood, the other in iron from the 2000s.
Rosy Keyser will be exhibited on the second floor of the venue. Her work stands out with her distinctive technique, redefining the freedom of the form and the two-dimensional canvas with the use of unusual materials such as horse hair and belts applied on canvas. Sara Ludy (1980 -)’s video artwork titled Deep Pond, also located on the second floor, completes the exhibition as another work that shows us how the form can be manipulated.
Robert Janitz (1962-)’s works carries the exhibition to another atmosphere on the third floor with his works produced in Istanbul as part of Sevil Dolmacı Art Residency program, bearing traces of the city. The artworks included in the exhibition create a holistic structure with both harmonious and divergent forms that vary/liberate according to the floors.
Freedom of the Form can be seen at Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery – Villa Ipranosyan between 17 January and 13 February 2022.
