David Salle (b.1952)
Born in 1952, Oklahoma, Salle completed his education at the California Institute of the Arts. Salle’s prints and paintings contain multiple layers of superimposed images that appear to be randomly placed side by side. These images can sometimes be items from popular culture such as Donald Duck or pieces from traditional art history. There is no narrative in his work, but the images he chooses are far from random, cross-referenced with each other. He currently works and lives in New York.
