ROBERT INDIANA

Robert Indiana (b.1928 -d.2018)

Indiana is an American artist associated with the pop art movement. His work is inspired by signs, billboards and commercial logos. He is best known for his series of LOVE pictures. Indiana played a central role in the development of Pop art. He created an important legacy that resonates with the work of many contemporary artists who have made the written word the central element of painting. Indiana’s artworks have featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world, and her work is in the permanent collections of major museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He died in America in 2018.
