The Cage

Sevil Dolmaci Art Gallery hosts the solo exhibition “The Cage” by Pınar Yeşilada, who lives and works between Turkey and France. The exhibition is composed of Yeşilada’s photographs and sculptures, which criticizes today’s cultural policies based on body and bio-power. The exhibition takes place on the 2nd floor of Villa İpranosyan from February 24th until March 15th.

Born in Istanbul in 1973, Pınar Yeşilada studied at Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts between 1992 and 1996. Yeşilada has had various solo and mixed exhibitions in Turkey and in Europe since 1996, focusing on bronze and resin material.

Pinar Yeşilada produces from a queer perspective adding her own interpretation of body and perception of self by using Foucault’s concept of bio-power. Based on nature being gradually moving away and becoming a ‘far away’ and lost ‘no place’, the artist constructs her works through the phrase of ‘restless identity’.
